OpenAI expands content partners
OpenAI has signed a multi-year global partnership with News Corp. The five year deal will allow OpenAI to display content from News Corp publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, MarketWatch, Investor’s Business Daily, FN, and New York Post; The Times, The Sunday Times, The Sun and The Australian among others. OpenAI will receive access to current and archived content. The agreement is thought to be worth up to $USD 250 million over five years. The deal follows similar licensing agreements from OpenAI, including the Financial Times last month. OpenAI has also signed an agreement with Reddit. The deal will allow OpenAI to train its model using Reddit data, as well as bringing AI-powered features to Reddit users.
Sprout Social facing investor action
Sprout Social reported its Q1 CY2024 financials in early May. The results shows revenue up 28.7% year on year to $USD 97 million. The company has a market cap of $USD 2.82 billion. However, the news did not sit well with some investors. The company is facing threats of legal action from investors as it “underestimated the magnitude of enterprise seasonality that now comes with our business mix, while also self-inducing sales execution headwinds during Q1 that we believe were important to position us for future success.”

Lavanya Wadgaonkar, Chief Communications Officer & Corporate Vice President at Nissan Motor Corp, summed up the current needs of PR and comms in a succinct post on LinkedIn. As a function, comms continues to change and evolve, but the need for clear measurement and insight remains consistent. Speaking of clear insights, the AMEC Awards are now open to entries.

Media Intelligence Product Updates
Here are some of the product announcements that caught our attention this month:
Sprinklr has launched an AI-powered survey tool for customer feedback management. The tool, called Sprinklr Surveys, will combine solicited survey feedback with unsolicited feedback and internal business data to provide customer insights.
Cision’s Streem has added AI Pitches to its platform. The genAI assisted workflow helps PR professionals create engaging journalist outreach. Given that CisionOne is based on Streem, I guess that we can expect to see this on the CisionOne platform at some point.
Meltwater’s partnership with Microsoft was big news in February. Microsoft has now revealed how Meltwater’s product will integrate into the Copilot ecosystem. It’s a short video, and it is worth watching. Meltwater also launched its ExpertsWithInsights initiative. Part of the company’s mCommunity platform, the initiative allows customers to share their expertise.
