February ends with a war in Europe, and with it a media intelligence discipline has very much come into its own. Though they seem less important, there were other stories in the month. GWI raised funds (and a remarkable valuation), Notified and Nasdaq strengthened their ties and PRWeek and Social Intelligence Lab released their industry leader lists.
Open source intelligence moves out of the shadows
GWI raises $USD180 million
GWI, formerly know as GlobalWebIndex, has closed a $USD180 million Series B funding round. The London-based consumer insights platform provider was founded in 2009, and was largely bootstrapped until a $USD40 million Series A funding in 2018. GWI’s latest funding round gives it a valuation of more than $USD850 million. The funding will be used to expand its global datasets and go to market.
Collab acquires Trendpop
Collab has acquired Trendpop for an undisclosed sum. Founded in 2020, Trendpop’s platform helps communicators measure social video on platforms like TikTok and find relevant content creators. Collab is an official TikTok partner, which helps creators work strategically on the platform. The company plans to use Trendpop’s data to broaden its insight offering.
Notified & Nasdaq strengthen ties for ESG
Notified and Nasdaq have announced plans to strengthen their existing partnership. The deal will give Notified customers access to Nasdaq OneReport. Nasdaq’s tool gives companies more control over their ESG data management reporting process. The platform integrates ESG information and simplifies the reporting process by leveraging data for different uses and audiences.
